Schools Program

St John Ambulance Association runs various training courses, one of them being First Aid. The training is also extended to school pupils from Primary to Secondary education under the St John Schools Program. In this program, the teachers are taught on First Aid skills and in turn impart the knowledge to their students.

 

Every year we run a St John School First Aid Competition where schools compete against each other to show how well they would have grasped the first aid skills. These competitions had been limited to schools in the St John Schools Program but since 2014 all schools are invited to come and take part in the Competitions. We hold Regional Competitions which lead up to the National Competitions. Regional competitions are held in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Mutare. The teams that come first in the Primary and Secondary categories from the four Centres then proceed to the National Competition.
